Choose the correct Douglas County record route

Douglas County criminal records can refer to different official systems. This page preserves Kansas and Colorado Douglas County examples; the correct court, access route, fees, and request process depend on the state and record type.

A court docket or case entry should be checked with case details, documents, dates, and disposition information. A docket is not a complete criminal history and is not proof of a conviction by itself. Court records differ from arrest/custody records and broader criminal-history products, so the correct request route depends on the record product needed.

Kansas Douglas County court records

Douglas County Kansas uses the 7th Judicial District District Court route. Current Kansas CaseSearch is available through https://casesearch.kscourts.gov/. Older county pages and Smart Search materials retain older registration wording, so current access instructions should be checked against the current Judicial Branch route.

Public access computers in the Judicial and Law Enforcement Center basement lobby provide access to party names, filings and documents, payments, criminal charges, and court dates. Criminal computer records extend back to 1989. Converted legacy documents may require courthouse terminal access. Sealed or nonpublic records remain restricted.

The Kansas Court Records Request Form collects requester contact details, case or document identifiers, delivery choices, and certification choices. Criminal email documents are listed for documents after January 1, 2009. Kansas fee information has conflicting official references: copies are $0.25 per page. Form/older guide references list $12/hour access and $1 certification, while 2023 Administrative Order 23-03 references $20/hour and $10 certification. Confirm the controlling amount with the court before payment.

Colorado Douglas County court records

Douglas County Colorado is in the 23rd Judicial District, established January 14, 2025. Records requests use the Colorado Judicial Branch Douglas County route. Records contact: [email protected].

The Colorado request process uses requester contact information, county/location, party names, case number or type when known, date of birth when known, and the specific document requested. Protected or suppressed records may require government photo identification. Estimates and waivers may apply. Current request information lists $0.25 per page, $15 maximum for parties or attorneys and no maximum for nonparties, $20 per certified or exemplified document, $5 name search, off-site retrieval costs, and $30 per hour research/redaction after the first hour in 15-minute increments.

Request copies and choose the next step

Use the filing-county court route for official copies, certifications, or case questions. Kansas requests use the Court Records Request Form. Colorado filed-document requests use the record document request process and records contact. JDF4 hearing transcript requests are separate; e-filing applies to attorneys or parties with existing access. The Colorado court does not accept faxed documents.

Kansas response timing can include a three-business-day response qualification, but this is not a guarantee that a request will be fully completed in that time. Colorado request timing can include a qualified three-business-day response statement, not a guarantee that a request will be fully completed in that time.
